Definitely get the drivers up to date.

I don't believe there's a problem with Radeon HD cards, and FWIW, I'm using a XFX AMD Radeon R9 280 with 3Gb. You're going to need a recent generation card with at least 2Gb of memory such as the AMD R9 2xx series or nvidia’s Geforce 700 or 900.

I have the same problem and am using a 1 year old board with NVidia GeForce GTX 650Ti chipset.  I would love a solution to this one.:

Did you try taral72063086's post above #240 (worked for me)

For those with AMD/ATI Radeon HD cards on Windows here's the process that worked for me. I installed the 14.1 drivers from April-2014 and got the OpenGL to pass.

1. Uninstall all your AMD drivers using Windows Add/Remove. For a further purge, Google the "AMD Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility 1.4.0.0" and run that after you uninstall. That wipes any old AMD/ATI files/folders from your system that the uninstall left behind.

2. Download and install the 14.1 drivers (Dated 4/25/14) from the AMD site. On the right of your driver download link you'll see a shortcut in orange for "Download Previous Drivers and Software".

If you are doing step 2 without step 1, even though it looks like you are installing previous drivers, the installer actually keeps your newer drivers.

Look for your "Core Profile Context" in the System Info box in Lightroom. If it says 14.100.x, that is the version that finally worked for me. If it reads 14.502.x, then you still have the newer drivers installed and those did not work for me.

My system:

ATI Radeon HD 6770

Windows 8.1 64-bit

Now something else, I don't know whether this is a general GPU bug or if is just an AMD 14.4 driver bug.

ACR 9, HD6770, GPU acceleration working:
The colour clipping warning overlay (e.g. ALT drag the exposure slider) does NOT show the same clipping with GPU enabled as without.

I can push the exposure way higher with GPU enabled before any clipping is indicated. Perhaps it is showing the prophotoRGB clipping level, rather than the sRGB clipping I have it set to show.

From your description it sounds like you are in Soft Proof mode. There is an issue in LR CC and probably LR 6 concerning the RGB sample readings at the bottom of the Histogram when in Soft Proof mode:

Lightroom CC Soft Proof Histogram Displays Incorrect RGB Values

Unfortunately, I can't confirm the large Exposure clipping warning difference with GPU enabled and then disabled. I'm seeing ~0.05 EV difference on Windows 7, Nvidia Quadro 600 GPU with latest driver, and LR CC 2015. Please provide the System OS, image file type, LR module you are in, and any settings used that causes the difference.

‌Sorry, not even tried it in lightroom. Just pure ACR 9 on windows 7 not behaving consistently wrt clipping warns with and with GPU enabled. If it is an AMD bug ill buy an nvidia card, could do with an nvidia user testing it.

‌after uninstalling everything again I finally got it working with the Intel 4000 card. Then I went to my configurable switchable graphics card properties and RETOLD it to use the high performance setting when using Lightroom. This time it reopened and was using the AMD 7600 finally! Albeit with old driver (14.4 install says 14.1)

Same here. And since nvidia cards are not well represented, and since I bought mine a couple of days ago, SPECIFICALLY FOR THE REASON OF ACCELERATION IN LR CC, I 'll add my log.

The card works like a dream and passed all other tests in all other programs. It even runs at pci-e 3.0 on an IB-E chipset.

And, before you ask: I don't have 2 graphics cards. I uninstalled my old one, but somehow it still shows up in the LR log below. It doesn't even show up in device settings with hidden devices enabled.

I am quite happy with the new version, except for the shoddy implementation of the GPU acceleration and the fact that it doesn't even work outside the develop module.

Eric,

Appreciate the response.

Any additional information will be helpful.

FYI ....

Have ATI based  HD7770.  Uploaded new drivers and LR 6 works just fine.

Looks like most issues are with older cards.

I did try a quadro FX4000 ... failed because the OpenGL is 3.2 - even with updated driver.

I myself will upgrade the video card in the near term to take advantage of software.

Hi team,

OpenGL 3.3 is indeed a requirement ... but it is only one of the requirements. In addition to this, Lr runs a self-diagnostic test of the GPU during startup, to make sure that the hardware has enough resources, and also that it can render an image correctly using the Lightroom imaging pipeline. Even if the hardware and software driver reports that OpenGL 3.3 is supported, this self-diagnostic test is used to double-check that the GPU can actually be used for processing images in Lr. If this step fails, then Lr will automatically disable the GPU support ("Unsupported hardware/driver" message in the Preferences / Performance panel).

For the AMD issues reported here, yes, we are currently investigating this in collaboration with AMD.

GPU acceleration has been disabled due to errors.

I have the AMD Radeon HD 7500 and it doesn't work either. Looks like Lightroom have messed up big time in their testing. I have the latest drives installed and AMD inform me it is compatible with Lightroom's specifications

It's pretty unrealistic to expect Adobe to test every single card out there - especially the older ones - don't you think? That'll be why they've provided a minimum spec list rather than a list of tested cards...

My AMD card is within the specification according to AMD. Abobe will still expect the same money each month from me as those who have a fully working system.

Guys...please read the thread...there´s already a workaround while Adobe/AMD work on a definitive solution.

All of you people with Radeon must uninstall all AMD stuff and re-install drivers from March, 25, 2014, Version 14.4

As dankony‌ posted above, use the driver from the link below:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows%207%20-%2064&rev=14.4

This is the one most people agreed to be working with Lr.

Did someone else run into this issue downgrading the driver to 14.4 ? I tried multiple times and each time ran the clean up utility and restarted the machine but Windows 8.1 build 9600 does not allow me to switch to the old driver.
