Options to "apply during import"

Question

I have some 850 images to import to LRC 14.0.1, and many among them are heavily underexposed. (no fault of the photographer as they are of a speaker and their slides in a room with house lights dimmed). I would like to apply the "Auto" radio button as in "Develop", but when calling the Apply During Import dropdown, I get a huge range of choices that does NOT include the simple "Auto" which is offered in "Develop". Can anyone out there please suggest a fix for a relative novice? (Clearly we will not be keeping all 850)

Create a preset where you apply the Auto on one photo. Then use this Develop preset when you import the rest.

ALTERNATIVE: import them all with no develop setting selected. In the Library Module, select all 850 images, then go to develop, turn on Auto Sync (bottom near the right, click on the slider at the left of the word Sync), then click the Auto button, it may take a few minutes to apply auto to all 850 photos, then turn off Auto Sync.
