ORF to JPG conversion quality problems

I'm comparing the results of converting ORF files type (Olympus RAW files) to JPG using Lightroom Classic and using OM Workspace. It looks like the algorytm used by OMW is much better than the one from Adobe, generating images much more clear, with less noise and better general quality.

I understand that OM is the creator of the ORF files format and can manipulate them better than a generalyst software like Adobe. My question is if there is a way to play with different configurations of the JPG conversion method (other than the few ones that appear in Lightroom when exporting files) to achieve better results.

Has anyone experienced this problem and find out a way to improve it?

Hi, please find attached the requested files that I could upload. The jpg from OM, the jpg from LC, a printscreen with the settings used in the export (the system does not allow to upload neither dng, orf nor zip files) , and a printscreen comparing the two jpg files, where you can see the difference (the OM on the left, the LC on the right).

The jpg from OM Workspace has had noise reduction applied to it, the one from LrC appears to have no noise reduction.

I'm guessing that OMW automatically applies noise reduction based on the ISO value.

In LrC you have to apply noise reduction yourself.

I could give you further advice if you make the DNG available for download.

Yes, maybe OM applies automatically, as I did not manually. I also have to say that the same photo processed with the noise reduction AI in LC has a better result than the OM one, but it takes time 😞

I also compared the JPG coming from the export in OM Workspace and the one generated directly in the camara, and they are equal, so they may use the same alghorith.

I have no experience with ORF files or OM Workspace, but I think this has more to do with how the raw files are edited in the respective raw converters than different algorithms for creating jpgs. LrC is an excellent raw converter, and should be able to match or exceed the results you get from OM Workspace.

If you don't mind sharing some files with us, we could take a look at them.

A DNG file exported from the edited ORF file in LrC. Exporting as DNG will include all the edits.
A full size jpg of the same image exported from LrC at Quality 85. Let us know what sharpening you used (if any) on export.
A full size jpg of the same image exported from OM Workspace.

You should be able to attach these files here, if not you'll have to use Dropbox or similar and post the link here.
