Hello, everyone!

Is there a way to adapt the file system to the structure of the lightroom catalogue?

I would like to primarily use bridge in the future and now I have to structure the file system for the first time.

For this i would like to take over the structure of the lightroom catalog and transfer it to the file structure.

Thanks in advance

As others have said, the catalog does adapt and does work based on the file structure you have.

Bridge is a browser, but it differs from there from the LR catalog, which is a true DAM and database. There are many advantages and functionality that this provides not possible in Bridge so this begs the question: what is your goal in using either?

Lightroom is a catalog application, not a file browser. That means it only shows those folders that contain an image that was cataloged. Other folders will not be shown. Parent folders of a cataloged folder can be shown by right-clicking on a folder and choosing 'Show Parent'. Bridge is different, because it is a browser. Bridge shows every folder there is on the disk.

Please explain in a lot more detail, as I don't know what you are trying to do. The Lightroom Classic catalog should mirror (parts of) the operating system folder organization. The only time it won't mirror the operating system folder organization is if you have missing folders because you moved or renamed folders outside of LrC.

Currently my structure in the file system looks like this:

YEAR > Image-Folder

2022 > 2022-05-01

And in my Lightroom catalog it looks like this:

Holiday > Year > Month > Country

Holiday > 2022 > 05 > Croatia > All the Images

And now I would like to change the structure in the file system of

YEAR > Image-Folder

to

Holiday > Year > Month > Country

The question is, can I use Lightroom to adjust the structure in the file system accordingly?

The target structure is shown in the Lightroom catalogue ...

Many Thanks

So is what you are saying that the photos and folders in Lightroom Classic are missing???
