Organize pictures and 4K XAVCS video

Please help!

I'm trying to find a program that will help me organize my pictures and video in folders by date AND allow me to import new pictures and videos from the same card over time.

Lightroom does a great job of this with pictures and videos I used to shoot, but since getting an a6500, it doesn't recognize the XAVCS files and will not import them.

I tried to import using Bridge which had no problems importing except it doesn't seem to have a function that excludes duplicates every time you import.  I use large cards (128 GB) so that could hold a lot of duplicates as I get to the end of the card.

I feel like there should be a simple solution, but couldn't find the answer in the forums or scouring the internet.

Thanks

Wes

Interestingly, Lightroom started to recognize my XAVCS files from my a6500 but it tags it as the date AFTER it was taken.  I just imported video today that was filed into a folder dated tomorrow!  Does anyone from Adobe read this?

This is primarily a user-to-user forum with some participation from first-level support.  Product developers only participate in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom Classic CC | Photoshop Family Customer Community

There are two possible causes for this:

1. Importing via a USB cable has long had problems with time zones, and Adobe has shown no inclination to fix it.  Are you importing via cable, card, or hard disk (after some kind of cloud sync)?

2. Sony XAVC-S use the MP4 container format, which is essentially the Apple QuickTime format. Apple screwed up capture-date time zones in QuickTime, and the camera manufacturers and LR and other software vendors have just compounded the mess: Lightroom: Canon 5D Mark IV video capture time incorrect | Photoshop Family Customer Community . The Sony probably records time zone in a metadata location inside the file that Adobe strangely considers "proprietary" and won't read without Sony's legal permission.

If you're not importing via USB cable, then 2 is the likely cause of your problem. You could post a feature request on the official feedback forum for your particular camera; be sure to upload a sample video to Dropbox or similar and include the sharing link.

But note that LR's support for video in general is poor and half-hearted -- after being introduced in LR 3, video support was never completed.
