Hi,

I updated ton LRC 15.0 and it keep crashing on startup, at the catalog conversion page.

I use windows 11 25H2, windows update up to date.

GPUs : Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti with Studio drivers up to date

Intel integrated 770 up to date

i went back to 14.5 and crashes also immediatly on startup.  The only version that work without crashing is the 14.0.  I tried to reset the preferences, but nothing changes.  Can you provide some help to fix this problem?

Charles

Correct answer Cloud8photo

I could not get LRc v15 to execute.  Event viewer showed error in MSVCP140.dll

I finally fixed it by downloading and reinstalling Visual c++ 2015-2022 Redistributable, both x86 and x64 versions, and copying MSVCP140.dll from \windows\system32\ to \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\

Why did I have to do this.  Why didn't LRc install take care of getting proper version of MSVCP140.dll into proper folder?

I cannot download Lightroom Classic on my Dell laptop. I think it may be due to operating system issues. My laptop uses Snapdragon.  I have called Adobe customer support 4 times and each time they say they will look into it and call me back.

Any suggestions?

You have to re-install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

I have tried that several times and it doesn't work. Adobe have told me it is a Snapdragon issue and I need to talk to Microsoft!

I had a similar problem. Sorry for my english.

Windows 10, LrC v15.

Very small window of Lightroom was opening (about 1/30th of a screen) and immediately appeared as not responding.

I tried launching an old catalog, I tried reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++, rebooting multiple times and even copying MSVCP140.dll as Cloud8photo suggested above. Then I made new catalog during opening (ctrl+click) - it worked. When Lightroom finally started I finally managed to open my normal catalog.

I installed the new version successfully but it simply doesnt start. Removing the settings doesnt help. Reverting to 14.5.1 works without problems. I tried already a couple of time with several reboots but nothing changes. I cant find any logs. I am using Windows 10 Pro 22H2.

I installed the new version successfully but it simply doesnt start.

What does happen? Explain in detail. If there is an error message, please quote the exact complete unedited error message.

Why do you think you installed it successfully? Have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing?

Nothing happens. I click the application's icon, for a short moment the waiting symbol is shown. That's it.

The installation run through without any problems.

Rerolling to the previous version works without problems. I tried three time with always the same result. Never had something like this before.

I didnt find any log files which could help to narrow down the problem.

Hi @corneliaheimer, welcome to the community!

Could you share a few more details about what’s happening when you try to launch Lightroom Classic? Do you see the splash screen at all, or does nothing appear? Also, if you haven’t already, it’s worth double-checking that your graphics card drivers are up to date.

If you’re seeing the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog, please go ahead and send in a crash report, that helps us investigate further.

For now, try launching Lightroom while holding down the Ctrl key. That should prompt you to select a different catalog, and if it works, it might mean the issue is specific to your current catalog.

Let me know how it goes!

Alek

Hey, @corwinn. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I've checked the crash reports submitted with your account, and the faulting component appears to be VCRUNTIME140_1.dll. This error is directly related to Microsoft Visual Studio.

Try these steps to manually recreate the MSVC++ Libraries & let us know how it goes.

  •  In the Creative Cloud app, press CTRL + ALT + T (Win) to launch Creative Cloud Troubleshooter & select 'Close Creative Cloud and related processes' > click on Go.
  • Go to 'Add or Remove programs' in Windows search & find all the installations of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (all years).

    SameerK_0-1688414507843.png
  • Uninstall them completely. Even if there is an option to repair them, please uninstall all the existing MSVC++ packages.
  • Download a fresh package of installers for MSVC++ from this link: https://adobe.ly/48MF6P0
  • Right-click the downloaded file and select Extract All.
  • Reinstall all packages (32-bit & 64-bit) one by one & then restart the computer once.

Let me know how it goes from here.

Thanks!

It's possible the V 15 catalog is corrupt. Try upgrading the V14 catalog again. I think you can do that by trying to open the latest V14.x catalog in V15.
