P: Develop Module, Lens Corrections, "Remove Chromatic Aberration" default

Every time I import still images from a shoot with my Canon R5, into LrC and go to "Lens Corrections" in the "Develop Module" I find that the "Remove Chromatic Aberration" is CHECKED (as in, "ON") insofar as my Canon RF lenses and EF to RF adapted lenses are concerned.  Is this a bug? I ask because that never was the case insofar as my EF lenses were concerned when I shot with various Canon DSLR for many years.

This has been reviewed and is not a bug but as-designed behavior.

Hi Laoshi,

Thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble with Lightroom. I'd love o help you figure this out.

Could you please share the version of Lightroom Classic (Help > About Adobe Lightroom Classic) & the version of the macOS you are working on? Does this happen with only the recent images from this specific Canon lens, or do all the photos behave similarly? Has this happened since any recent updates to Lightroom Classic or the macOS?

If you are noticing any other changes in the images right after import. The reasons could be the RAW defaults within Lightroom (v9.2 & above) which allows setting default settings for importing raw file format images in Lightroom based on Adobe defaults, camera-specific defaults, or custom presets.

Check this article to understand, create your default settings and troubleshoot the same.

Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks!

Sameer,

This issue was filed as bug in March 2021 by Jim Wilde. Back then the cameras affected were Canon EOS R, R5 and R6. The workaround is to create preset with the Lens Profiles and Chromatic Aberration to Off, then configure LrC to use the preset as a camera specific default in Preferences > Presets > Raw Defaults
