This thread is for Camera Raw & Lightroom Classic feedback on the (Early Access) Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI)
For the Lightroom Ecosystem feedback, click here

The Lightroom team is dedicated to building capabilities that foster trust and transparency in the age of AI. Our latest release, as part of the Content Authenticity Initiative (https://contentauthenticity.org/), allows you to add content credentials to your work when exporting in Lightroom to ensure provenance and preserve authenticity.

New content credential capabilities are available across the Lightroom ecosystem (Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web), and Adobe Camera Raw in Early Access. When exporting a JPEG from Lightroom, you can attach your name, social media handle, and a list of edits via a digital signature.

You can find the option to apply Content Credentials while exporting a JPEG in the export panel. It is, by default, turned OFF. You can choose to enable this option at the time of each export or enable it in App preferences for every export. Learn more.

If you choose to attach credentials, the information you submit will be tied to your image and can be verified by uploading the photo to contentcredentials.org/verify. Try out the early access version of Content Credentials and share your feedback with us.

Please include the following details in your post:

  • App version/platform
  • System details
  • Example image(s) if you wish to share

Thanks!

Getting a unknown error when saving with Content Credentials, if I turn it off I can save the images no problem. It saves fine without but errors saying an unknown error has occurred.  Would this happen if the original metadata was appended in Photomechanic 5 before processing?  I am using the latest version of Adobe Bridge and ACR version is 18.4.1.2647.  The error stops if I turn off Content credentials either published to the cloud or add to the file.  Windows 11 version 25H2  26200.9168 and all updates applied.  Laptop is an 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz (2.42 GHz) with 20 GB of RAM running IRIS Xe graphics, I used to be able to do this no problem.

I get this with each and every export. I have to hit “show in finder’ for the failed images, re export and hit ‘refresh’ prior to exporting. Why install a feature that is clearly not ready and full of bugs?!

@Rikk Flohr_Photography

could you or Komal Desai take a look at this? Thank you for the work on Content Credentials in Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw.

I'd like to raise a related gap: Content Credentials currently reach images exported directly from Lightroom, but not images published through external Publish Service plugins, such as WP/LR Sync, which connects Lightroom Classic to WordPress. The plugin developer confirmed this isn't a limitation on their end — Content Credentials simply aren't yet exposed to the Publish Service SDK.

I filed this as a feature request six months ago (linked below) without a response. Given Adobe's leading role in the Content Authenticity Initiative, it would make sense for Content Credentials to reach images published this way too, not only regular exports.

Feature request: community.adobe.com/feature-requests-676/p-content-credentials-support-for-external-publish-services-e-g-wp-lr-sync-1546802

Would appreciate it if someone on the Lightroom team could weigh in on whether this is on the roadmap.

It would be great if you could display personal websites in your verified accounts instead of just other big tech sites.

I tried to use this with the Attach to File option. It gave me an error each time, and didn’t export any of the files. I have unclicked the option and hit Refresh and it is continuing to give me the same error (Couldn’t Apply Content Credentials)...even though the option is no longer selected. I am not able to export any photos now.

Whatever this new feature is supposed to do -- it blocks saving final edited images to files and thus is stopping me from getting my work done. GET RID OF THIS BUGGY FEATURE!!!!
