Hello,

I Have a problem whit Lightroom 6.1.4 on windows 10

My part of my photos are on an external HDD.

When I plug it in and then start lightroom it crashes without an error.

When I start lightroom and without the external HDD it remains running

When I Start lightroom and then connect the External HDD it runs/ crashes ( not stable)

I made a new catalog and imported all the photos.

When I start up whit the new Catalog and the HDD it remains running

The face-recognition problem is indeed the cause of your crashes:

You could read through this long thread carefully for several possible workarounds to keep LR running:

The license for the third-party face recognition technology in LR 6 expired a year ago, causing these problems. Since LR 6 hasn't been supported by Adobe for years, there won't be any fix coming from them.

Good afternoon,

I've been using facial recognition with Lightroom (6.14 for desktop) for years and all of a sudden now it doesn't recognize them any more...

Anybody can help?

Thanks

I guess you are actually running Lightroom 6.14 the latest and last update to Lr 6.

In the Windows Event Viewer, any critical events?

Have you run an inspection for hard drive errors?

Do you have a different USB port to plug into? One not sharing the same controller?

Do you have another external hard drive to copy the photos to, and test, would involve a folder location correction.

Windows event viewer notes an error.

I haven’t run an inspection for the external HDD.

If I plug it in any USB port the result is the same.

I have copied the photos to a new drive whit no result

It may be that your LR 6 is trying to start in People view, which has been broken for a year now and often causes crashes.  Try resetting LR's preferences, which will ensure that LR starts up in Library Grid view:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.
