P: Lightroom crashes when initiating tether

Running Lightroom classic version 13.1 on m1 macbook pro on Mac OS Sonoma 14.3 and every time File > Tethered Capture > Start tethered capture and Press Ok, the application crashes. This happens both with and without a camera connected. My lightroom version is up to date and this crash happens everytime without fail. I've tried clearing the preferences and uninstalling/reinstalling the app as well. Has anyone experienced this? What's the resolution?

I will watch for it.

Hi Rikk,

Just wanted to let you know - I have updated this evening to Lightroom Classic 13.2 on Macbook Air M1 ( Sonoma 14.3.1).

Tethered capture now works (with Canon R5) and does not crash on hitting OK (wether a camera is connected or not).

Thanks for your help. David

Same issue here. Trying with a Leica, Mac OS 15.3.1. Happens with or without camera attached. Still no fixes for this? This thread is quite old, but still seems like the most recent one, no?

Sent report after forcequitting lightroom which is stuck on beachball every time i try this.

Hi I'm having the same issue. Every time I try to initiate a tethered capture lightroom crashes @Rikk Flohr: Photography  Are you able to see any of my crash reports? They're usually tied to this email or <removed for private>

I'm running Sonoma 14.3.1 and the latest version of LR. Thanks for your help

I only get the dialog box to submit to apple. How does one submit a crash report if there is no box? It happens literally every time.

It's really a shame that Adobe lets things like that. We are paying for a service we can't use 😞

Hello,

I'm new here but I wanted to say that I'm having the same problem. I'm also using the MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip. MacOS 14.3.1. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,

Nat

Why are we paying for a service we can't get ? And impossible to reach to someone knowledgeable for this issue

Hello. I have the same issue and Adobe still could not help me after 1 hour of remote control. What a shame ! We are paying for a service we can't use

It's really frustrating. I saw a similar ticket for this issue was opened middle of last year and was resolved so I don't understand what has happened since then

I have exactly the same problem using an new M1 MacBook Air running a new install of Sonoma 14.3 with a new install of Lightroom Classic 13.1.

After entering Tethered Capture and specifying the file location I hit 'OK' - get a brief (1 second or less) 'Detecting Camera' popup before Lightroom crashes.

This occurs whether or not my camera (Canon R5) is connected to the USB port and whether or not it is switched on.

I have submitted crash reports (under this email) for this issue under both Sonoma 14.2.1 and (yesterday) after installing Sonoma 14.3.

In both cases no camera was connected. In the previous Intel world this would have resulted in the 'Detecting Camera' popup just continuing to search.

We’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s?  Apple’s?

I have submitted an Adobe crash report for this previously, but I went ahead and submitted another one under this email address just now.

@Braxton348722529n7a

No crash report from your address ever arrived.

The next time you crash, fill out the crash report COMPLETELY, and screenshot it and post it in this thread.

Thank you.
