Tried opening V12 Lightroom Classic and when it tried to convert the catalog, I got the message:

Visited teh Adobe Tchnote, but this does not seem to refer to the relevant problem.

After I installed the Mac OS 13.1. beta 1 two days ago, I could work with my catalogs on the external hard drives normally again!

My thread was moved into this one. My problem with the speed problems of importing photos into Lightroom occured some days BEFORE updating to Lightroom Classic 12 and MacOS Ventura. Copying the cataloge to the desktop didn't help, the problems while importing remain. In the past I had so many other issues with Adobe on two different Intel Macs, that I'll give Capture One a try.

Are there any alternative products that will open and utilize the Lightroom catalog? I am already planning on contacting Adobe about issuing a credit due to its failure to endure compatability with a known upgrade, but seriously considering a move to another product altogether.

Depends on the condition of the catalog.  Capture One will import the LR catalog, On 1 Raw can create its own catalog.  Your LRC v11 is still there, and since you haven't been able to access the v12 catalog, you should be able to import it.  Good luck with any conversion.  I use and test virtually all the Mac-based photo software. No matter what they offer, I keep coming back to Lightroom and Photoshop.  I refuse to hold Adobe responsible for this bug.  Apple owns this one, and your beef should be with them.  And I say that as a holder of a significant amount of Apple stock.

Here is what pops up and yes I tried the fixes on the forum.

I think now we all know the problem and what we should not know is who is going to fix it and how soon. It is so frustrating that we cannot do anything with lightroom, of course by transferring the catalog to the desktop. I am reluctantly working that way.

thank you! and yes BS for sure! With 10 weddings to edit this month I am definitely not stoked at all.

Since I upgraded this morning, I cannot tether my Nikon Z7 to Lightroom Classic. Both Lightroom and my Nikon have the latest upgrades.

This is my work, therefore extremely important. Can anyone advise if there is a fix for this? Thank you.

i had the problem with external catalogs. Yesterday Apple released a new beta update for Mac OS 13.1. After I installed it lightroom 12 works ok again!

Perhaps Adobe could make an effort to warn people when there are such fundamental issues with an OS upgrade? Like me, those in this thread are clearly finding out after the issue has struck and we have no access to our Lightroom catalogues. This is a fundamental issue and deeply dents my trust in Adobe.

To be fair, this issue didn't exist in late Ventura betas.  Apple changed something in the week between Adobe's release of LRC and Apple's final release of Ventura.  I can't fault Adobe.

At Maria, see the link below there appears to be an issue with Nikon Cameras in LrC 12.

I upgraded my M1 Mac mini to Ventura, but had already upgraded LrC and the catalog on an external drive. The catalog does open in this instance and was at least partially functional but VERY slow. I copied the catalog and previews to my internal drive and it seems to work correctly.

I have the same problems after upgrading my MacStudio to OS Ventura and LR 12.0. I moved some of my files with the catalog to Mac HD and it works here, Except Topaz Denoise and NIK software which I cant use.....I hope it will be fixed soon....

Hi,

If you are using your catalog from external storage, then there is an known issue with macOS Ventura and LrClassic 12.0.

We are working on resolving this.
