Question

Photography Plan (Lr, Lr Classic, PS) - Don't mind subscription, but can I buy it without cloud?

I am trying to find a way to customise plans. All I am after is Lightroom Classic. If the plans insist on throwing PS in, too, fine, so be it. But I don't want any of the cloud storage, or cloud synching. I'll use my local hard drive and local backups exclusively?

Given by the sheer amount of complaints about the cloud storage, cloud bugs, cloud synching issues, and sheer amount of people who just don't wish to see their work processes online, I'm surprised there is no option for the subscription plans to go without the cloud?

Does the software NEED the cloud, and does that mean, even when I am ONLY after Lr Classic, that the stuff won't work offline?
I frequently am in places without internet, and sometimes without electricity, working off laptop battery exclusively. Thus, I need software, that is fully functionable, and available offline 🙂

Any tips on how to best go about it?

@Giovanna30721126f49x , to expand on what Dj Paige has already indicated the Adobe Photography Plan is only available via subscription as an Annual fee, with the option to pay monthly in advance. The plan as you are obviously aware includes Photoshop which comes with Bridge and Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom (cloud-based) desktop app, Lightroom Mobile for tablet and smart phones. The applications can be installed using the Adobe Creative Cloud application which you need to sign in to your Adobe ID. If you are paying monthly Adobe needs to confirm that the payments are up to date and that happens at 30 day intervals.

As Dj indicated you do not need to utilize all of the facilities but Adobe needs to check that subscription is up to date. If you pay annually the time frame for the checks is 60 or 90 days.

Thank you. That makes sense 🙂

You don't have to use any cloud syncing or cloud storage if you don't want (many people don't). But all plans sold by Adobe come with cloud. Lightroom Classic (and Photoshop) do work offline, not sure why you think it won't.

Thanks 🙂 I have skimmed the forums a bit about the cloud storagen and got slightly overwhelmed by the many in a nutshell "It stopped working" posts 🙂
So I was hoping it was usable fully offline. How many laptops/computers am I allowed to install it on with the Subscription?

The only time you need to be online is initially, so LrC can check your license, and then every X days to check the license is still active, where X is 30 or greater (I don't remember exactly what the rules are).

You can install LrC on as many computers as you want, but it can be activated on at most 2 computers at any one time.
