Photos are distored in LrC after creation in Ps

I use photos in LrC to create a composite in Ps. One part is a rectangle, filled with the foreground color. When that file is saved and linked back to LrC that rectangle becomes a trapezoid in LrC. It prints OK from LrC, but will print as displayed if I add that photo to a Custom Package. This is a new problem that's never appeared before. Older files created the same way display and print correctly. Note that the right side of the LrC image is shorter/smaller than the same image from Ps and the rectangle slants downward. I'm running a 2017 iMac (Intel i7), LrC 12.0.1, Ps 24.0.0.

Sounds like something goes wrong in the creation of the jpeg previews which are what is used in the diplay and apparantly in Custom package. This is really strange though and I have no clue what could be causing this. The only setting that could cause this skewing distortion are the settings in transform Upright. Some combo of horizontal and vertical with rotate could do this but I highly doubt that's it. Looks more like a really strange bug in preview generation. Does this go away if you create new 1:1 previews on the file? First discard them and then build them again. In the Library menu when you are in Library.

I re-created the files in Ps, using the same images from LrC, and the problem didn't repeat; the resulting .psd files look correct in LrC. I'm assuming something went wonky once. Thanks.

Interesting idea, but no Presets are applied to any of the images. The weird part is that the image isn't rotated, but skewed and that appears to happen in the display of the image, not the actual file. The files are OK when I re-open them in Ps. They print OK UNLESS I try to use the images in a Custom Package (I use that feature to create gift tags for the manila envelops I use to carry and hand out the photos); the Print module uses the distorted/skewed version of the photo. It appears to be a Display problem with LrC (haven't checked Lr or Lr Mobile...yet). Thanks for the idea.

Can you check the Develop settings on the new image? Perhaps a preset is getting applied that is rotating or skewing the image in the crop or in the manual geometry section.
