Photos disappear from its original folder after uploading to Lightroom classic

Hi! I have used Lightroom for quite some years now and have never had this problem before.

I always organize my photos in folders on my laptop. The ones that I will edit I put in a 'favorites' folder.

So in lightroom I import them as usual by selecting the folder and the photos. And now I noticed that the original photos disappeared from the 'favorites' folder on the laptop. In lightroom it doesn't show that the original photos are missing from the folder and all is fine, but I don't have the original ones anymore on my laptop and I have no idea where to find them.

It was completely fine 3 months ago when I did it all the same way.

When you import photos, you can select at the top center of the import dialog what Lightroom should do: only add them to the catalog (that is the option you should choose), move them to another folder, or copy them to another folder. Apparently that selection got changed without you noticing it, and so Lightroom moved them to another folder. To see where Lightroom moved them to, select a photo and then choose 'Photo - Go to Folder in Library'.

Such a simple thing. Thank you so much! It worked!
