Photos import to a new folder with an old name

When I import photos from my camera they go into a new folder with the name of an old folder. Rather than going into (today's date) they go into (today's date Headshots) and Headshots is the name of a folder created several years ago. I use Lightroom 5.7.1. Why is the import picking up the old folder name, and how do I fix this issue? Thanks all.

Correct answer Rob_Cullen

By clearing recent paths and emptying cache - I think - I have almost solved this. Lightroom now imports to a new folder with the correct new name, and does not create a new copy of the Headshots folder in the new location. The only issue now is that it creates a sub-folder in my hard drive for the new photos. I am not using an import preset, have not checked any Import to Sub-folder box, and do not see an option to add a sub-folder destination. One last mystery here.

I refer you to the Help PDF at- ! HELP PDF

Read from Page 44.

I also suggest download the PDF for easier reference.

And- Your Destination panel shows what?

Do you NOT see the Destination options as asked in Post#3 above?

You may well have an import preset configured to import photos into the specified folder.  You can change it to None from the Import Preset drop down menu.

Good thought, but that doesn't solve the issue. I had no Import Preset in place, but just to be sure I cleared recent import destination paths and restored defaults in the import preset menu. Then I created a new import destination by creating a new folder called New Import Folder.

Also made sure to use a new Save To New Import Folder import preset.

Imported from my card to the new New Import Folder, and Lightroom created a new folder for the imported folders located inside a new folder with the old Headshots folder name.

I have used Lightroom 5.7.1 for years and this was never a problem until recently. Still looking for a solution to clearing this puzzling behavior.

For an answer it is important for 'us' to also see top section of the Destination panel in the Import dialog-
