Question

Photos not showing in lightroom

I posted three sets of photo folders in the last month to the same catalouge and on the same drive. (Drive D) Windows 11, I beleive

I have viewed all the photos already in Lightroom and made some adjustments.  They were all there with the other folders that contained phtos that I imported for last three years.

As a tech was working on my computer to fix some issues with duplicate copies of one drive files and setting up a Nas backup, I go a message saying that lightroom was using catalogue v12, which I use.   I did not know the catalogue the computer I was referring was to was on the one drive folder instead of just staright from the D drive.   This has now been fixed; everything goes straight to D drive.  One drive then extracts from C & D drive....  fingers crossed and the Nas backs up everything every hour.

I see the "current catalogue" no longer includes the three folder mentioned above.  I tried "find the files" without success.

I think I may move the folders to an external hard drive with different name and re-import.   Thoughts???

This is the worst possible thing you can do. Re-importing is never a good idea; fixing the problem is the solution. Please show us a screen capture of the problem. Use the "Insert Photos" icons to include your screen capture in your reply. DO NOT ATTACH FILES.

Hi  I got together some screen shots for you.

Lets try to explain what happened again....

I had a technician come in to install a NAS backup system and sync my one drive cloud backup.

Some where along the line two C drive one drive files were created - one under owners and one under owners/users.

I believe the tech re-routed all my files in "Documents" to onedrive/documents.  This folder should sync to the cloud.

Lightroom got confused, and asked if I wanted the V12 catalogue to be retrived from one drive.  It also mentioned something about backups to the catalogues but I really wasnt paying attention.  I accepted the request.  Unfortunately, this catalogue did not contain the latest three folders I imported.

Since there were two one drive files, the tech came in to put all the files into one one drive.

The lightroom catelogue being used is outlined below.

I think when the location was changed when was it moved to the one drive folder.  The catalog labeled v12 goes has a September date on it.  The catelogue in Lightroom includes folders to August 28 only, so I would imagine this is the folder that was used for one drive.

I did not create all these files.  I had one Lightroom Catalog v12 file.  I messed this up once so have been very careful since.

So, the catalogue is missing three folders 09-30-203, 10-01-2023 and 10-14-2023.   I worked on these and closed and reopened them before the backup/One drive technician came in.

I also attached a snapshot of the .*lrcat files that pretain to v12.  The B drive further down the page is the Nas backup.

Do I reimport these folders?

Let me know if this makes any sense and what your advice is.

some of us, like me, cannot view any file attachments here in this forum. Could you please post the photos by using the "Insert Photos" icon and not as file attachments?

And what exactly is the question you have?

To LrC it doesn't matter where the catalog is located. If the folders are not included in the catalog you opened, then you probably opened an older version/copy of the catalog.
With the update to v13, LrC copied and then updated the catalog. If you imported after the update and now open the old one, then that's the reason it needs to be updated to v13 again and the folders are not in.

I suggest searching all of your drive for *.lrcat to get to know what you have and where.

This  is a better explanation of the first part of the third paragraph.

A tech was working on my computer to fix some issues with duplicate copies of one drive files and setting up a NAS backup. Afterwards, I got a message saying that lightroom was going to use "Catalouge 12" , which is name of the catalouge I use.  I did not know the catalogue it was referring to was on one of the one drive folders.   I beleive that copy of the catalogue did not include the three folders mentioned above.
