Photos not showing in Lr

Hi, I had new 2nd shooter working with me yesterday, his CR3 files don’t show in my Lr Classic. I downloaded normal version of LR and all fine. I worked with CR3 files before and didn’t have this issue. Photos show fine in Photomechanic too. When i open a photo via photo viewer, it says “Locked” though i checked all settings and files are not locked, or read-only. I am lost of what else i can do ?

thanks updated the Lr and works now, strange though as CR3 are from the same Canon camera that worked before on my old Lr

Somewhere in this thread the OP says “Lightroom classic 13.3”. That most likely explains it.

Are these files saved as compressed CR3’s by the camera? I’ve heard that some compressed RAW files have problems in LrC.

The previews you see in the import panel are supplied by the operating system, not by Lightroom. Your operating system apparently doesn’t have the driver to read the previews in these files. Lightroom Classic probably supports them just fine if it allows you to import them. It just can’t show the preview in the import panel. This depends on the exact model of camera, not on the file extension. So you probably just need to update the OS to get this support or just ignore this and simply import all images.

Which version of Lightroom do you have installed? Which type of camera the CR3 are from?

Another point can be a defective monitor profile.

Lightroom classic 13.3 , CR3 come from Canon camera, i had CR3 files before and there was no issue. I installed new Lightroom ( not classic ) and photos show. I can’t edit in new Lightroom, I am too old to use it!

CR3 files are different for each Canon camera. If you use an older version of Lightroom Classic, then it is possible that this version does not support the CR3 files of the latest Canon cameras, while it does support CR3 files from older models. If possible, update Lightroom Classic.
