Question

Photoshop crashes shortly after Lightroom classic “edit in photoshop” is initiated.

Photoshop crashes every time after I initiate the “edit in photoshop” button in Lightroom. Photoshop opens by itself, but when I try to import photos from Lightroom to photoshop, it crashes.

Do you get any error message(s)? If yes, post the message(s) word-by-word (or post an screenshot of the message).

Which settings do you use in Lightroom to send images to Photoshop?

Does Photoshop work if you’re open a file in PS directly?

Try to reset the Photoshop preferences

Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset

    https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

You can try also a reset of the preferences in Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:  https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

    My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 9 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

This is the image I received when ever I initiate the “ edit in photoshop 2026”. The application opens for a brief moment, but then quickly crash and prompt this error report message. I disabled my GPU in the preference section so that the CPU take most of the power….it still didn't work.

Hi @Blackmagicace , thanks for sharing the additional details.

Please launch Photoshop directly, then go to the Help menu in Photoshop, then System Info, and copy the text. You can share the info with us by either pasting it as a reply here or in a text file and sharing a link to the file with us.

Did you try resetting the preferences as @AxelMatt suggested to check if that makes a difference? If not, please try that and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Nikunj
