Photoshop won't launch from Lightroom

I just upgraded my Mac Air M3 2024 from Sonoma to Sequoia. I have LR 15.3 and PS 27.6. When I try “Edit in..”

I get the message The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2026 could not be launched.

I have had this issue before and managed to fix it but not this time.

I have read all the suggestions here and in Reddit and tried them out

Uninstall Lr ; Uninstall PS
Reinstall Ps first then reinstall Lr  - doesn't work
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the other way round - doesn’t work

I’ve tried the above combinations with or without saving preferences in Lr and/or PS - doesn't work

The Lr preferences are correct.

I dont have any other PS installed and no Betas.

Can someone please help - as this is driving me crazy

Hey, @Jean Philippe35518687hie8. Thanks for sharing that you’ve already tried the steps Nikunj shared.

You can try these steps to set up or recreate the link between Lightroom Classic & Photoshop 2025.

    • Reset Lightroom Classic following the second (manual) method from this article: https://adobe.ly/4fOPxm4
    • Uninstall Photoshop & Lightroom Classic and then install again.
    • Before launching both of the apps, ensure Lightroom Classic & Photoshop have the required permissions on the macOS: https://adobe.ly/4amzwQg
    • You can try launching Photoshop first, then Lightroom Classic & check if it's right.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

I have the same problem. I tried adjusting the disk access settings in Lightroom and PSD files; it's better, but still very slow.

Likewise, I can no longer drag and drop images from a collection to the print page (print module).

I have the feeling that something isn't working properly with Lightroom 15.13.1 on a 24GB Mac Mini 4.

I granted the necessary permissions (Mac).

But Photoshop takes a considerable amount of time to open.

i can get the photos to open in photoshop by using send to photoshop as smart object .

but if i chose edit in lightroom  or edit in lightroom using lightroom settings the image won’t open in photoshop.

i dr,teed both photoshop and lightroom and installed photoshop and lightroom and still not working .

never had this issue prior to the update

Hi, thanks for reaching out, and we're sorry about the trouble.

Please check whether Lightroom Classic and Photoshop are granted Full Disk Access and have Permissions to Files and Folders on macOS. You can check out the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/4dWb6kB

Let us know if it makes a difference.

    Thanks,

Unfortunately that didn't work. The problem still invokes The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2026 could not be launched.

If I launch PS and leave it running in the background prior to using Edit in on LR then all is fine.
