Question

Pictures not saved on local machine in tethered capture mode

I've connected my Canon EOS 6D Mark II to Lightroom Classic via Tethered Capture mode. Everything seems to be working fine i.e. camera is recognised by lightroom, I see view from my camera in Lightroom GUI, trigger is responsive, I can take a picture with GUI trigger etc. The only issue is that pictures are not saved in the destination folder. They are only saved in the Camera's SD card. The same functionality works in EOS Utility software then something must be wrong with Lightroom Classic itself. I’ve tried removing SD card, changing destination folder, changing format to jpeg only, virtually everything I could find online. There is nothing in camera settings that I wouldnt have tried. Would you be able to help please?

Hi @satisfied_brain5D19 ,

Apologies for the delayed response. It’s possible this may already be resolved, but sharing this in case it still helps.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, it really helps narrow things down. Since everything is working on the connection side and images are visible in Lightroom but not being saved locally, we’ll need a bit more information to better understand what’s happening here.

Could you please share the following details:

  • System Info from Lightroom Classic. (Go to Help > System Info and copy/paste the report)
  • Camera firmware version (Please ensure it’s up to date)
  • The exact destination path, shown in the tether capture bar. Also, ensure Lightroom has full read/write access to that folder. You may try setting it to a simple local path (e.g., Desktop) to rule out permission issues.
  • Does the issue occur in a new catalog? Please create a new test catalog and check if the behavior persists there.
  • Screenshot of the tethered capture window/settings, if possible.

Additionally, you may try resetting Lightroom Classic preferences to rule out any corruption (please make sure to take a backup before doing so). Steps are shared here.

This information will help us investigate the behavior more accurately and guide you with the next steps.

Srishti
