Pictures take a long time to load in D view

Pictures take a long time to load in D view

Hi guys,

When I click on a thumbnail in G it takes 8-12 seconds to load on the screen. I have a brand new Macbook Pro (bought in June) with an Apple M2 Max chip ; and in my mind this should not happen.

Is there like a box to un-check in Sys Prefs, or some similar maneuver?
