Pictures taken after 23:00 Imported into next day's date

Hi All

Just noticed a curious action where pictures I've taken after 23:00 are being imported into the next day's date by LR even though the EXIF data for the picture clearly shows that it was taken the previous day. This has only just recently started happening maybe the last 2 weeks. Camera and computer both have the correct date and time set and I've made no major changes to my system.

As I shoot in pubs/clubs or concerts shooting after 11pm is a common occurrence and it's annoying that I have to move the last group of pictures back into the correct date. Anybody got an idea why this has started happening and how to stop the issue from happening in the future?

Thanks in advance Neil

Not sure if this helps or just shows the problem

I was shooting on the 26th and 27th, both days shots were taken after 23:00 but I finished shooting before 00:00 but LR has put the shots in the next days dated folder. In the screen shot above the number 1 shows the correct shooting time and date but the number 2 shows that is in the following days date which is wrong. It's as though LR is adding an hour to the capture time and therefore placing it in to the next days date. All the pictures in the above screen grab are in the wrong dates folder and just to be extra awkward this isn't happening all the time as I have had imports that have been perfectly OK.

This is almost certainly a time zone problem, since your current time is UTC + 1:00. But what's weird is that it can't be reliably reproduced.

- What time of day did you import the photos?

- If you remove photo 1 from the catalog and reimport it (or make a copy and import that), does it still go into the wrong folder?

Hi John

I agree this does look like a time zone issue of some description, what I can't understand is how it's suddenly became a problem as I've used LR for years and it's ages since any sort of hardware modification has been done to my machine.

I imported the pictures about 14:00 the next day

I've just re-imported the pictures from the memory card with don't import duplicates switched off and it's put them into the correct folder!

Are you importing with a USB cable connected to the camera?  There's a years-old bug causing such symptoms. The workaround for that bug is to import from a card.

If you're not importing with a USB cable, then:

1. Provide details how you are importing.

2. Do the menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the first ten lines here.

No I'm not importing with a usb cable from the camera my computer has a built in card reader and I use that to import my pictures into my PC.

Please upload a sample problem photo to Dropbox or similar and post the sharing link here.  We can see if this happens on other configurations or if it's something in that camera's metadata.

Have you checked the Time Zone on your camera and/or computer?

JimHess Time zone on my computer is (UTC +00:00) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London with adjust for Daylight saving set as I live in Scotland and is showing the correct time.

Camera a EOS 5D Mk3 is set to London with sun symbol set (daylight saving) and is also showing the correct time
