Question

Pointing to a newly cloned SSD as a replacement hard drive for photos within lightroom

Hello.  I have one catalogue but the photos are split over two hard drives.  One of those hard drives is an old HDD and i have created an exact copy of the files (file structure and photos within) to an SSD of the same size.  I thought it would be easy to then just start using the new SSD but although i can see the hard drive appear within "folders", i do not know how to ask lightroom to point to this hard drive to view and start editing the old photos off this new har drive.  Is there an simple way of doing this that i am missing? Many thanks

Yes, there is. Relink the folders, not the individual images. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-photos-missing-fix/

If the old drive is still connected, then the menu to relink the folders is 'Update Folder Location' rather than 'Find Missing Folder'.

Hello.  Thank you for that.  If i "update folder location", will the drive name change to my new drive name within the "folders" structure in Lightroom?

Yes. The drive name relfects where the folder is, so if you 'relink' the folder to the same folder on another drive, then that will show in the folder panel.
