Presets installed in Lightroom 5 not working in Lightroom Classic 12.4

Hi!

I just installed Lightroom Classic 12.4 and I let it make a copy of the Lightroom Catalog I have been using in my old copy of Lightroom 5. I have a good size collection of presets there and noticed that those apparently didn't get transferred to Lightroom Classic 12.4

The preset files are LR Template files. Are these not compatible with Lightroom Classic?

When I go to Files/Import Profiles and Presets and then Import, nothing happens. I searched for the presets that I have backed up to an external hard drive.

So, are LRTemplate files not compatible with Lightroom Classic? Why didn't they get copied over to the new Lightroom? Everything else got transferred as it should.

Is there another way to try and import them?  I am using Windows 10.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

So I have the same situation going on. I saw your other comment about how you added them through presets and then +. That does work, but I have far too many presets to put them all in. I started to just to see if it would work and it does! I hope someone else will reply with a better way to move these presets. The other thing is not having the organization of folders... I can't deal lol.

When you do Preset panel > +  > Import Presets, you can select multiple old-format .lrtemplate files and import them all at once, which will convert them to new-format .xmp format.

See the free Fix Presets plugin for how to reflect the on-disk folder organization of your presets as "groups" in the Presets panel.

OK. I figured out how to work this out. In the Develop/ Presets/ I used the + symbol to import my presets and it worked! It could not import the presets' folders, but it did import the actual presets. It's a bit time consuming and I would have preferred to import each folder to keep the presets' list a bit more organized, but I guess I can live with that. Not a big deal as long as I am still able to use them! It just never worked for me to import my presets doing File/Import Develop Profiles and Presets, but it worked by clicking on the + symbol though! Just a heads up in case you are running into the same issue!

Yup, a very old bug that Adobe never recognized as a bug and has never bothered to fix.
