print module is using EXCESSIVE roll paper

OSX 11.4  LR Classic 11.5 Epson 9900

I have been using LRC for my own and client prints for a few years now, it seems different things break when there are system or Adobe updates. I stopped updating OSX since it always meant I had to reinstall my print driver if I wanted the orange channel to work, weird right?

With lightroom, I noticed it started limitting my roll length. For example at one time I could set an 8" x 44" custom paper size, then a few years ago, if I set anything shorter than 10" it would spit out an additional 6" inches of paper. I dealt with that by just setting custom sizes to 10" minimum. 

But now, anything set to under 20" will cause the printer to feed until 30" of paper has been used.
Photoshop and other programs do not have this issue.
This is a VERY EXPENSIVE PROBLEM
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a solution?
