Question

Printer settings intermittently changing

My system configuration is:

MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1

Lightroom Classic 14.0.1

Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 with lastest driver version 26.10.0.0

My old Epson printer died a few months ago, so I haven't done any printing from LR for a while. But I just got a new Canon Pro 300 printer, and I'm seeing some weird stuff happening with my printer settings.

I have multiple printer presets setup for my Canon Pro 300 for the various papers I use. These presets work correctly for Photoshop and every other app I have tested them on. But with Lightroom Classic, when I select a printer preset in "Print Settings..." or "Printer...", and then look at the actual printer settings, one or more settings will intermittently be different from what is stored in the preset. The problem occurs on Color Matching, Media Type, and Paper Source. If I change the settings in "Print Settings" to what I want, and then click "Printer..." they are often changed to something incorrect.

My Google searching hasn't found this exact problem, but I tried the following recommended for similar problems:

  • Reset LRC's preferences.
  • Add LRC to Mac OS System/Privacy & Security/Full Disk Access and Acessibility

Here is an example. The screenshot on the left is from Photoshop and correctly shows what is in my printer preset. The screenshot on the right is what was loaded by LRC. Note that the paper source was changed from Manual Feed to Top Feed. When I tried to print with paper the manual feed tray, the printer complained that the top feed tray was empty, so I know this not just a case of incorrect data display.

This problem is intermittent, sometimes it works, but more often than not media type, paper source or color matching are changed.

After resetting LRC preferences, I noticed LRC still "remembered" my last settings in the print module for Color Management. Is it possible there are other preference files buried in the depths of the LRC installation that might be corrupted?

This problem is driving me crazy, any help would be appreciated!
