Question

Printing Package and keeping original numbering?

Good day

I hope someone can help with this.

In Lightroom Layout Style/Picture Package/Print to file, you have to choose a folder for this to save but when you do this it re-numbers all the images with that folder name. I would just like to keep the original image numbering.

I have tried numerous ways of file names etc but no change and I really think this option is not available.

Anyway around this?

In Print, you can't export files with the original names. Picture Package, for example, is designed to allow more than one photo to be on the layout.

To retain original names, you need to go through File > Export.

Hi John, thank you but that does not work.

Select a few images

Go to Print

Select a picture package

On the bottom right Print to file, you have to choose a flie name, this then re-names all the images with what ever name you use.

Export will not save your picture package

Export with preset DNG option, this does not save your picture package. Only if you use 1 image it works, but when you have may  images, it does not save the picture package.

Hope you can assit?

You've misunderstood what I said.

To put it in other words, if you export from Print - ie using the Print to File button - there is no way to keep the original filenames.

If you really want to keep the original filenames in files exported from LR, you have to use File > Export. This completely ignores Print and exports individual files.

So if you want to generate files with Print Package layouts, you have to accept that they will not have original filenames. Reimporting and renaming them in LR might work in some circumstances (eg one picture per package) but would still be awkward, depending on the file naming scheme.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
