Question

Printouts with a consistent white border

I really like having a circumferential white border (1 cm) around my printed pictures. To get this result on a DIN A3 sheet (29,7 x 42cm) I usually trim my pictures (ratio 3:2) with the Lightroom crop tool to 27,7 x 40cm. Then a centered printout shows exactly the result I want to have.
Unfortunately I always have a problem when using DIN A2 sheets ( 42 x 59,4 cm). Several times I have tried to set the crop tool to 40 x 57,4 cm but as it seems it does not accept these user-definied settings.
What I am doing wrong?
How can I get my beloved white 1cm frame around my pictures?

Any kind of help would be highly appreciated
Frank

What version of Lightroom are you using?  The newer versions of Classic, latest is 8.3.1, will accept the A4 ratio.

I am using the lastest version of Lightroom Classic. Sorry, I forgot to mention DIN A4 is also not a problem. Unfortunatelly DIN A2 is not a proportinal increas of the DIN A3 format.

"Latest Version" doesn't help us.  Look at "About Lightroom" and report the exact version number.  For all practical purposes A0 through A6 are all the same aspect ratio; however there are some slight round-off errors in the paper cutting process.  I entered both ratios, 42 x 59.4 and 40 x 57.4 and both were accepted.

I am not sure how you are creating the 1cm border.  I would do it in the Print Layout settings.  Due to slight variations in paper size and feed tolerances of the printer, borders do not always end up perfect.

My screen shot is for A3 paper with a 1 cm border; my printer is not large enough for A2.
