Problem syncing video from Lightroom CC to Lightroom Classic CC

Hi,

I have almost 1TB of photos and videos in the Lightroom CC cloud.  Then I found it doesn’t support Photobooks and several other products.  So I switched my subscription back to Lightroom Classic Photography Plan And am trying to sync the 1TB back to my Hard Drive from which Lightroom Classic will let me create Photobooks etc.  Photos are syncing fine, but videos from the Cloud show as a waveform and won’t play.  Going to Finder on my Mac shows the MP4 or MOV file which can then be played.  Why won’t Lightroom Classic CC play the videos?  In the old version of Lightroom for Desktop, I was able to download videos too (I use Lightroom as my main backup facility for photos and videos).  Now I can’t download them either.

A Very disappointing state of affairs.  Any idea when this bug will be fixed or is there a workaround to handle videos from Lightroom CC’s cloud (Ecosystem??!!) in a more useful fashion?

Regards,

Colin Begg

Apparently lots of people have problems with video in LR Classic. Here is an example: Lightroom Classic: Videos don't play and don't import | Photoshop Family Customer Community There are some solutions in that thread that you can also try...

I don't see that screen shot you mentioned. Could you do it again?

Try as I may I can't duplicate your end result. During sync time the videos show in Lr CC Web and Desktop as a bland image with a lightning bold icon in the middle.

In the Lr Classic they simply don't show up until sync is complete.

Here’s the screen shot that didn’t make it through the email reply.  Every single video in Lightroom Classic CC shows as this waveform, but if I follow the ’Show in Finder’ link, the complete video is there and viewable.  40,000+ photos and videos have synced, but I still have 30,000 photos and videos to sync, it is SO slow downloading on my 200Mbs fibre connection.  I wonder if Adobe will improve their server speeds anytime soon?

Are these H265 videos? The waveform means that Lightroom is still indexing the video. If the OS can play it, the files have synced down.  I would try and purge the video cache (Preferences->Performance) and rebooting the entire machine. Adobe runs several processes in the background (dynamiclinkmanager, Adobe QT32 Server, and others. You get the since wave when Lightroom loses connection to those.

Not quite sure if this will help because I'm not quite sure what it is you are asking.

I shot a video with iPhone X native Camera. In the Lr mobile settings I have Auto Add Videos enabled which allows device camera roll videos to enter the Lr CC environment.

I then synced to Lr Classic and the .MOV video plays.

Seems that pulling/importing/syncing videos from the Lr CC cloud into Classic does work and they play.

OK, I’ll re-iterate what the problem is. I have 70,000 photos and videos which were created mainly on iPhone and iPad (using the Camera Connection kit from an SD Card out of my cameras). These were successfully synced with Lightroom Mobile and synced up to a LIghtroom CC Cloud subscription which started at 1TB and I increased to 2TB. Then I found when I wanted to make a Photobook, the feature had been removed in the Lightroom CC I was using on all my devices, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. So I reverted my Lightroom plan to the Creative Photography plan. With the amount I’d been paying that came with 1TB cloud storage. I set it up to use a 1TB drive I have connected to my AirPort Extreme Time Capsule.

So I installed and started syncing Lightroom Classic CC and although my photos synced successfully, all my videos showed up as a waveform rather than a playable video. I’ve attached a screenshot, filtered for videos. These videos are not playable, nor can I share them or save them anywhere! In the previous version of Lightroom, videos were playable and could be shared and saved.

Since I have started in August producing lots of video and use Lightroom as my main backup, this is very worrying. Is that clear enough? I am syncing with an existing Cloud ‘backup’ and not seeing my videos. The next step if this sync ever completes, would be to try and get the mobile clients to sync with the Classic instance as they used to previously, rather than the Cloud ‘backup’ as they are at present. I have no idea how that’s managed either!
