Question

Problem with the book module

I create a library for making my book.

When I fill the library, it's OK.

I put about 361 pictures in the library.

When I switch on the Book module :

 - on the left panel I have my 361 picture

 - on the bottom pane I have 687 picture ! And many of them are not in the library. µAnd it' impossible to remove the extra pictures

Do you know Why and how it's possible ?

And how come back to my choices ?

It's very disturbing.

Thanks

Bob

This annoying problem never seems to have a definite 'authotative'  answer.

As many times as I try seemingly 'good' suggestions (others and my own) I also find "It does not work"!

The 'backward' method I have adopted now is this- Start from a Book Collection 'Template'!

Use one 'Saved Book Collection' as a 'Template' by Removing all photos from this Book 'Template' Collection. (Remove photos in Grid view.)  This needs doing only once!

When I want to start a new book-

1) I 'Duplicate' the Template-

2) I Rename the copy template-

3) I set this Book Collection as the Target Collection

4) I add only the photos I want in this book by adding photos by Drag&Drop (or [B] )

5) I [Double-Click] to go to the Book Module and 'Carry on' with [Clear Layout] [Auto-Layout] presets etc.

A little more information-

The random appearance of photos in a new book can be annoying but a simple workflow can overcome-

1. Run [Auto layout]. This will populate your new book with the images from you new selection, as well as unwanted photos "inherited" from you previous book.
2. Run [Clear layout] directly after. This will not only clear the layout, but also clear out those unwanted old photos from the film strip.

3. Re-run [Auto Layout] if you want! Using a Preset that has been set for your desired page templates, etc.

Now immediately create a 'Saved Book Collection'. This special Book Collection will ALWAYS be the way you return to this specific book for editing.

Thanks, but

It dosn't work !

The method create a saved book only with the picture I don't want !

When I clear, the amount of picture decrease by 1 !

So I can't do it 300 times

My suggestion is to start with a brand new collection with only a handful of images as a test. Get the first few pages to layout in the book module the way you want it to look starting with a clean slate. Print a pdf and check that too. Once you've tested it and it works as it should add the rest of the book to the new collection.

Have you tried to clear the layout under the Auto Layout panel?
