Problem with the Slideshow module in LR Classic Ver 11.2

Since upgrading to LR Classic Ver 11.2, I am getting the folloowing error when trying to use the Slideshow module.

"Dynamic Link Media Server failed to launch"

I am running Windows 10 Home, Version 21H1, installed on 2-1-2021, OS build 19043.1526; and did not have any issues with this Module when running any previous versions on the same system, and used the Slideshow module frequently.

As suggested on the error screen (image attached) I relaunched and subsequently unistalled/reinstalled LR Classic 11.2 but the problem persists.

Is this a known bug with version 11.2

Thank you.

Hi Jim,

We're sorry about the trouble experienced. Thanks for reaching out. Are you using videos in the slide show as well? Did you try using all the images in the same orientation (all landscape or all portrait)? Did you try resetting Lightroom Classic preferences back to default?

Please check this article for a detailed descriptionhttps://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-video-issues.html.

Let us know if this helps,

Regards,

Ranjisha

Ranjisha,

Are you using videos in the slide show as well? --- NO, I do not deal with video files in LR at all

Did you try using all the images in the same orientation (all landscape or all portrait)?  ---YES,

tried to create a two (2) image slideshow, native format of included files are TIF

Did you try resetting Lightroom Classic preferences back to default?  --- YES, Problem persists.

Even though I do not have video files in the attempted slideshow, I followed the directions to delete the folders

containing the DynamicLinkMediaServer and DynamicLinkManager components.

I am attaching below some files they may be useful. These include screeshots of what Task Manager is reporting at various points in the attempted try(s) above, a screenshot of LR running as it attempted to create the failed slidewhow, and I am sending again, the specs of the system I am using. I wanted to send a dump (.dmp) file created during a failed attempt, but the  "dmp" fomat is not a supported file to attach (I could send it as plain text).

LR Classic was  relaunched and Windows restarted at appropriate points in the above work. As I mentioned earlier, this problem started with the installation of Ver. 11.2 of LR Classic. The rest of this new version is performing normally as far as I know (at least in the Library and Develop modules). While I do not use Slideshow frequently, it is annoying that a module that has functinally changed little through many previous releases and many years. I have been a LR user for a long time, first acquiring the application well before the 'subscription'  approach to licensing began. Any help would be appreciated. As an aside, I am a former software engineer and tester, and will be happy to assist in any way I can. I next plan to install a previous version of LR Classic and see if the problem disappears.

Best regards,
