Problems opening DNGs in DNG profile editor and exporting profiles

Hello Everyone, I'm new to IR photography and I'd like to create and use a custom camera profile in LR. Now I've downloaded the 64-bit version of the DNG profile editor and that seems OK. When I did the first export of a RAW file to a DNG form LR, that also went OK and I could open it in the DNG profile editor. However, I was unable to change the whitebalance. I kept getting a message that 'the operation cannot be performed'. Still, I somehow ended up with a profile that has a correct WB setting and I could export that profile as well. However, that profile cannot be imported into LR.

To make matters worse: I can't import any DNGs into the profile editor anymore now. I guess I'll just uninstall and reinstall, but that does strike me as a fairly unsatisfactory approach, so here's me asking what could cause this and how can I deal with it?

Thanks in advance,

Hans

As you're doing IR, here's a BTW: http://www.capturemonkey.com/redblueswap-lightroom-profiles

Profiles for doing red-blue swap in Lightroom. There is a way to demux these to XMP and redo for other cameras.

Thanks, these do look a fair bit more complicated, but I'll give e'm a try!

I fixed your thread title as it was indicating DBGs in DNG Converter.

Regarding the Profile Editor itself, the Adobe Info page for same indicates that the Editor hasn't been updated since 2012. The download itself is dated 2013, and last time I used it was a 32-bit. It was touch and go whether it work or not, and most of the UI was messed up.

Thanks for fixing my typo. So, the basic message is that this may or may not work? If that's the case, I'll try to find a workaround.

Below are screenshots of the version I have installed on one of my Mac computers. Notice the menu bar is messed up. This in itself isn't a big problem, but often the app just locks up or won't allow import of the DNG source file. For example, I just opened it, clicked through the tab bar and went to close the app but it was locked up. I had to use force quit. There's also no official support from Adobe.
