Problems viewing photos in Library mode

I have about 21 000 photos inside my Lightroom.

When I'm in Library mode and trying to find some pictures of older date or that I look up pictures via Ctr. F, it takes a very long time before the pictures come up, if they do at all.

If I click on the image itself for each image, it comes up. But that's untenable if, for example, I'm going to have a series of photos of maybe several hundred photos.

What could be the cause of this and how can I solve problem?

First up a few situations that might be occurring, are any of these occurring:

  • Face Detection occurring, not paused
  • Address Lookup occurring, not paused
  • Sync to the cloud occurring
  • Sync to/from LR Mobile occurring (getting them off your SmartPhone, etc)
  • Creation of Library Previews
  • Photo Merge occurring

Second up, a common inquiry. Your LrC catalog location. On the hard drive it is in, how much free space in present. Looking for at least 20%, some say 25%

Third, optimization, has it been a long time since you accomplished that?

Fourth, and this may be absolute rubbish. But in your catalog, do you have many folders or photos missing?
