Question

PSDs created from Lightroom Classic not being added to the Catalog

Steps

From Lightroom, open file as Smart Object in Photoshop

Make various edits

Close and save PSD from Photoshop

Expected action - PSD now shows up in Catalog next to the RAW file or JPG

Actualy action - File is not in Catalog and I have to run "Synchronize Folder" to make file show up in Catalog.

    Glad you got it sorted.

Figured it out, no issues with Adobe, had the NAS connected 2 times for some reason and they were being added to a second listing of the drive in Lightroom instead the one I was in. Disconect the 2nd instance, all works now. Weirdness.

    Thanks, all.

    A couple of speculative thoughts:

    - In Preferences > External Editing > Edit In Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, try changing File Format to TIFF. Does the problem still occur?

    - Does the file saved by Photoshop have the same base name as the original raw?  E.g. xyz.new and xyz.psd?

Hmm, I just tested this in my LR 8.4 / Mac OS 10.14.6, and it behaved as expected:

    1. Right-click a photo and do Edit In > Open As Smart Object In Photoshop.

    2. Made a few edits.

    3. Closed the file by clicking the "x" in the upper-left corner.

    4. The PSD appeared in LR, stacked with the original, as specified in Preferences.

Something's obviously not right in your configuration. Can you please copy and paste the first ten lines from Help > System Info?

From Photoshop, are you using Save or are you using Save as?

Closing the file which forces a Save. The same way I've been doing it for a long long long long time.

Seems strange, for sure. I don't have that problem. The only thing I'm doing differently is that I'm saving a TIF rather than a PSD. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for you.
