Question

Publish Services changes my filenames

I'm using a plugin for Publish Services that uploads photos to an online gallery for clients to view. There is a feature/bug such that Lightroom finds the four digit sequence number in the filename and replaces it with its own counter starting from 0001. It does this even when the sequence number is in the middle of the filename.

The authors of the plugin point to a Lightroom issue rather than anything to do with the plugin.

Has anyone come across this and found a way to stop the filenames changing? It makes the files really hard to identify later.

1. Which publish service?

2. Which plugin for that service?

3. In general, publishing to a service won't rename uploaded files unless you've told it to.  In the Publish Services panel in the left column of Library, right click the publish service and do Edit Settings, which will open the Lightroom Publishing Manager. In the File Naming panel, is Rename To checked?

Hi - the name of the uploaded file is changed. The source in LR is unchanged... but the two names then don't match.

Do you mean the file name of the published/uploaded file? Or do you mean the file name in Lightroom (on your hard drive)? As far as I know, you can't actually change the file name in Lightroom using a plugin. The SDK doesn't allow you to do that. It would be nice if you could, that's why I'm asking.

Best regards
