Purpose Sensitive Stacking [Smarter Auto-Stacking]

Nearly always, the reason I use auto-stacking in LR is because I have several consecutive images that I have bracketed for exposure.  Then I have the tedious job of going through all of the stacks to find which ones were actually bracketed for for HDR stacking.   It occurs to me that LR could have made this job easier for me and perhaps it has.  Maybe there is some way for me to tell LR to do the auto stacking only when the exposure changes between the images.  Is there a way to ask for this?  LR has all the information available to it as meta-data.

But if there is no way for me to specify such smart stacking, I would ask why not?

Many people have asked for smarter auto-stacking.  See this feature request in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Better auto stacking for bracketing,HDR, and panoramas | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Add details of your use-case and click Vote and Follow in the upper-right corner. That will make it a little more likely Adobe might eventually implement it.

Just to let you know, we are just other Lightroom users in this forum; we are not Adobe decision makers who might be able to answer the question "why not?"
