Question

Putting person in image on new background

I am trying to get an image where the woman on the left is alone on a plain background.  Tried removing woman on right but that gave me a replacement woman or a scrambled replacement.  I cut woman on the leeft to the clipboard but couldn't get her back.

Any ideas appreciated.  The help in LRC told me to go to PS 2024 but couldn't work it out there.

"I am trying to get an image where the woman on the left is alone on a plain background."

It takes a little bit of experience but LR's Remove can do this in two steps.

FIrst, select all the elements you want to replace with plain background as a single selection, including the tan object to the lower-left of the center woman, then click Remove:

To include the object on the lower-left as part of a single selection with the objects on the right, you have to work around a UI design bug with selection, selecting everything with connected brush strokes and then subtracting what you don't want selected:

I had to go through half a dozen variations (clicking Generate to get three more variations) to get the cleanest background shown above.

Then you can use Remove again to remove the objects in the lower-right corner:

which leaves just the center woman with a plain background:

With all of these steps, make sure Detect Objects is unchecked -- it doesn't work well.

Yes, that was the right advice. Ask for help and instructions in the Photoshop forum.
