Hi there! In the recent update of LR I am having a difficult time finding the radial gradient. Looking at a turorial, I see they are showing a menu I do not have.  How do I get it?  Thank you!

So, I looked at the most recent tutorial and it is the same as the pic I posted, but I finally found it!  For some reason I have to click on the + sign for create new mask after clicking on the masking button. 🤷‍♀️

Keyboard Shortcut [SHIFT + M]  will take you directly to a Radial Gradient, without having to click on the Mask icons.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.3, Photoshop 27.5, ACR 18.3, Lightroom 9.3, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .

Clicking the new button just opens and activates the masking panel. LrC cannot know what you have in mind at this point: do you want to begin a whole new masked adjustment, or to modify or delete one that is already present - and if you do want to begin a new one, with which kind of mask initially.

Next to the various "add mask" options shown in your screenshot are some keyboard shortcuts. For example Shift+M opens the masking panel (if not already) active, and goes directly to making a new masked adjusment, and selects that a Radial Grad should be placed rather than one of the other choices. Or you have the opportunity at this point to alter the local Develop sliders, which updates the starting defaults used for this and for future new masks.

It is IMO best to quickly adapt to, and learn to make best use of, the working tools now in place: I suggest it is fruitless to get hung up on comparisons against how things may have worked before.

Adding to comments from @Conrad_C

The way to select a radial gradient has changed. The usage of the radial gradient after you select it has not changed.

The tutorial is out of date. When Lightroom Classic 11 was released last fall, those controls were rolled into a powerful new Masking feature.

Search for tutorials about the “new masking in Lightroom Classic 11” and they will match the current version.
