RAF from Fujifilm X-T5 not loading built-in lens profile (distortion/vignette) until zoomed to 100%

Raw images from the X-T5 are not loading the built-in lens profile until the image is zoomed to 100%

This makes the images look heavily vignetted and distorted until the image is zoomed to 100%

Basic Steps to reproduce:

  • Open image in develop module
  • Image looks heavily vignetted and distorted
  • Zoom image to 100%
  • Image seems to reload, and the lens profile is applied.
  • Zoom out --image now looks correct

Lightroom Classic Version: 12.1 build 202212072312-d7ab524b

OS Version: Windows 10 Home 19045.2364

Camera: Fujifilm X-T5

Lens: XF23mmF1.4 R LM WR (but also on other lenses as well)

I have the exact same issue with my XT-5 and 23mm LM WR. Somehow it seems like on my 33mm LM WR this problem does not appear. It seems to only affect my 23mm on X-T5. The bummer is that after zooming out the rest out of the photos revert back to the distorted versions. Incredibly tough to edit huge batches of files.

Did u mange to find a solution?

Interesting, I have an X-T5, I have Windows, so I just got off my rear end to look at this.

(note, I have bairly touched this camera as of yet, but well experience with earlier Fiji X))

First interesting issue is that we are not forced to use built-in Lens Profile (correction) as for example on my X-T3:

Instead, as requested by many many members, we get to select (auto in this case) the lens.

Zooming in to 100% changes nothing on my rig, my pic:

Personally I find this a desired behavior over Built-In Lens Correction applied

As for the Vignette/destination issue?

Are you creating the standard previews upon import?

Yes. Rendering standard previews and smart previews on import

Hmm, I don't observe that misbehavior in my LR 12.1 / Windows 10 with that file and with build standard previews and smart previews on import. There's something specific to your configuration that we don't yet know that's causing the problem.

1. Try importing a fresh photo without building smart previews -- does the problem still occur?

2. The "before" screenshot shows the Patina - Colour preset applied.  Did you apply this by clicking the preset or was it set by the Import setting Apply During Import > Develop?  If it was set by Import, does the problem occur if you import without setting a develop preset?

3. Immediately after importing a new photo but before zooming, make and post a screenshot of the Lens Correction panel, e.g.

Is it possible to share a raw file with us that exhibits the issue?

Upload the sample raw file to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar and post the sharing link here.  (You won't be able to attach a raw file here -- the forum platform chokes on raws.)
