Ratings disappear after a number of images

In library mode, rating pictures for the first time in trial version. After rating 400 or so pictures, lightroom suddenly goes haywire. I lost all ratings and can start all over again, 4 hours of work. Not pleasant.

It started with suddenly rating a picture and all pictures were affected altough not selecterd.

(brand new laptop Lenovo Yoga with AMD rizen 7 and Nvidea Geforce RTX studio)

All my ratings disappeared after I optimized my catalog. First time it's done this to me.

Perhaps you accidentally had all the photos selected? Depending on your display, it can be hard to notice the differences in the shades of grey borders around the thumbnails.
