Recover edits from v11 in v12

Hi,

I've updated lightroom to v12.0.1 on MacOS (M1) a few weeks ago. I've started adding new photos to my library and just realized all edits made on images before the update were gone.

I've seen that "Embedded metadata in some RAW files is not read properly." is a known issue. I have 2 questions:

1. Are the edits definitely gone ? Are they deleted when I open an image in the Develop tab ?

2. Is there any way to restore edits made with earlier versions of lightroom into v12 ? I work with a single Library with a lot of folders.

Thanks

Sadly, when I load a photo in the Develop tab, all Edit cursors are set to zero.

If you look at history on one of those can you see a reset step? Can you take the image back before a step lie that?
failing that, Do you have any backups of the catalog you could go back to? Either the ones Classic makes itself or separate backup solution?

Was your catalog stored on an external drive by any chance. There was a bug discovered when Ventura was released and when using it with LR 12 that catalogs on external drives don't work correctly. Anyway what you want to do is to try opening the V11 catalog again in LR 12, let it upgrade the catalog again and see if the edits are there now.

Hi, thanks for your answer !

Indeed, everything is stored on an external drive.

I've tried to re-import the v11 catalog in LR 12 and edits are still missing.

That is very weird v12.0.1 is supposed to have fixed this bug (see here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-mac-ventura-known-issues-please-read-before-you-upgrade-your-os/m-p/13281520 ).

So perhaps try first moving the v11 catalog (you only need to move the catalog and the associated previews) to the internal hard drive and to upgrade it there. You should be able to move the upgraded catalog back to the external drive afterwards. If you don't have enough space on your internal drive, you might want to simply downgrade to v11 by uninstalling Classic and reinstalling v11 using the other versions option in the ellipsis next to the app name in the Creative Cloud app.

Again I thought this issue was fixed in 12.0.1 so upgrading it again should have fixed the issue.
