Remap images in lightroom catalogue/library

I have loaded my images into lightroom but after reorganising my storage, the library picked up the wrong files where the numbering has re-started and I have mixed batces together.

Is there any way that I can re-map the individual picture files to the correct location?

Restore a backup of your catalog file, before you did this. If possible, undo the "reorganising" again using backups.

If you don't have those backups or you can't do the reorganising, then I think we would need to see some screen captures to illustrate the problem. Use the Insert Photos icon to include your screen captures in your reply.

But really, the idea or reorganising via Mac OS methods is a poor one that should be avoided (except in the case where you are running out of space and then you should move everything unchanged to a new disk); all organizing and reorgainizing should be done in LrC.

Thanks dj_Paige,

I had all files on a series of hard drives and moved them to a single external drive and that is where it seems that they have been picked up in different orders.

I don't have an older back-up partly due to revised formats of the updated LR.

the issue is where an image had (say 0S....001) and another later image has the same number (as camera numbering ticked over to teh start) and these are now mixed up.

can I pick an image and "re-find" it?

Okay the word reorganizing can mean a lot of different things. Good explanation.

So try this: lets say now that image DSC_0001 in Lightroom Classic is connected to the WRONG original file. Go into your operating system, move that file and all other files in that folder to somewhere else (like a new folder). Then, again using your operating system, put the correct files into the folder where the WRONG DSC_0001 was just a minute ago. Does this fix the problem in LrC?
