REMOVE - CANNOT MAKE FINE ADJUSTMENTS TO SOURCE LOCATION

APP VERSION - LIGHTROOM CLASSIC 13.3.1

MAC OS SONOMA 14.5

Macbook Pro 2019 16 inch

Hi there, since the 13.3.1 update, the remove tool, specifically healing brush, is unable to make fine adjustments to the source location, which is problematic for getting lines straight / aligned. I have tested this on two different macs and both have the same issue.

Prior to 13.3.1 it was possible to make very fine adjustments to the source location. I have attached an image which hopefully illustrates the issue.

I searched the forums and was unable to find something similar to my issue, apologies if it has been discussed already.

Hi Krishna, thanks for your help. I have attached a screenshot of my directory you advised to find the file in. There are quite a few sub directories. Can you please advise which directory the lua file should be located in?

@Guy37890514wuia, the "config.lua" file goes at the top level of the "Lightroom" folder, not in a subfolder. The most reliable way of getting to the correct folder is to select this line and do Copy (Cmd C):

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom

Then in Finder, do the menu command Go > Go To Folder and paste that line (Cmd V). (There are multiple Library folders, so this is the easiest way to get to the right one.)

I have the same problem. Lightroom 13.3.1 with Windows 11.

@Krzysztof37569275vhjb, did you try the workaround provided by Adobe employee @KrishnaMaithreya?

I did. It works.

Hmm, I'm able to make very fine adjustments to the source of the Healing and Clone tools using the trackpad on my Macbook Pro 2023 / Mac OS 14.5. The attached screen recording first shows using the trackpad and then the up/down/left/right arrow keys.

Sound troubleshooting steps to narrow down the issue:

- If you connect a mouse, do you have the same problems?

- If you use the arrow keys, can you move the source precisely?

Thanks John, that is a useful workaround (using the arrow keys) and will suffice for the time being.

Your video demonstrates your ability to move the source location in fine movements, hopefully there is just some bug unique for my system, laptop, and this version of lightroom which can be found and / or corrected. Up until 13.3.1 and for the last 6 years I never had this issue. I use laptop trackpad, blue tooth mouse (mac and third party), and standalone trackpad, across two laptops (one with Ventura, one with Sonoma), and this issue appears for all combos since the 13.3.1 update. I have attached a scren recording of what it looks like for me.

I have found one other person with the same issue, they reported their concern in this thread (https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-remove-tool-clone-and-heal-is-missing-source-handle/idi-p/14635600/page/2#comments), and I have included their response as an attachment.

I think this is going to be a tough one to get addressed. Until Adobe is able to reproduce it, or unless many people report the same symptoms, they're unlikely to pay much attention, unfortunately.
