Question

Remove object on JPG image in LrC from synced LrMobile image with HDR

I think I may have found a bug and I need others to verify.
1) Take picture something with Camera App (ver 9.8.102.748116395.16) . The image must be a JPG.
2) Import image into LrMobile (10.4.1) and sync with cloud
3) On PC (Win11) using LrC  (14.4 Release Camera RAW 17.4), Edit image in Develop module
4) Select HDR (or it may automatically be selected).
5) Remove an object. (it doesn't matter if detect object is on or not) and pick any one of the 3 choices.
6) Close the remove tool
7) Switch HDR off.
I am seeing a black area of where I selected to remove. If I enable HDR the image looks as normal.
This problem does not happen if I use the DNG file synced through LrMobile to LrC.

The problem also shows up if you start out with your JPG image set to HDR off, remove an object and turn HDR on (but the selection area is white not black).

Short video of the problem occurring on a JPG image but not the DNG image is included.

Versions of software I found this on:

LrC  (14.4  Release Camera RAW 17.4) Build [202506051112-5918896a]
Android Camera App (ver 9.8.102.748116395.16)
Using LrMobile (Android) and LrC desktop app all at current revisions due to auto update.
I have Pixel 9 ProXL Android using June 5 OS update.

What's the point of using HDR on a jpg image? JPG is only 8 bits. It does not support HDR.

What's the point of the comment. A bug is a bug

The point is that HDR editing is clearly not designed for jpg images, which makes it debatable if it is a bug.
