Rename on Import and Auto Import not recognizing EXIF Meta data

In Library Module I have created a custom file renaming layout and saved it as a preset.

In both Import and Auto Import, I select the custom Preset that was created in the Library module.  Both Import and Auto Import fail to correctly rename the files.  Works great in Library mode.

Steps

1. Enter the Library module and F2 to rename files.

2. Create a custom rename pattern

3. Save the custom rename pattern as a Preset

4. Use the previously created Preset during import.

When I shoot pictures on my camera the clients' names are embedded in the EXIF Copyright field, so when those files are imported each file has the name of a client embedded in the data.  I want LR to read the copyright in the EXIF and rename the file with the customer's name - #sequence.

Simple enough, works in Library, why not on Import?
