Renamed files revert to original name when imported from another catalog

Question

I was working on external drive in a tempoary Light room catalog.

117 portraits. I renamed all of the files.

When I imported to my main archive, the the updated names were ignored.

The files were reverted to the original filenames.

Not sure what's going on here

It recognized it already had the images you were taking into the main catalog and synced the changes from the temporary Lightroom catalog to the same files in the main catalog. Doing this will. Or cause the older already present files to be renamed n the same way as you did on the temporary catalog. It only syncs the edit changes.
