Renaming files in different folders

Hi,

Quick question. I just imported 20k photos. I have many folders and subfolders. I would like to rename all my files using the name of the folder and then a sequence #.

I thought I did that when I renamed the files but they all ended up with the folder name (great!) but the sequence number goes from 1 to 20k.... I would like for each folder to start with 1 and not for my entire collection to be numbered 1 to 20k.

Hope that makes sense. I looked for many hours now and I can't find the answer. Can you help?

    I would like to be able to do this in one go and not folder by folder as I have hundreds of folder. Thank you!

    I don't know the answer, but I will say it is soooooooooo much easier to not do this renaming. What benefit do you get from performing this work of renaming?

    Hi dj_paige, thank you for your reply. I would like to be able to refer to each individual picture easily. Not just for me but for other people that might need to do this. Also, it would be easier to search, etc. Do you think the only option might to rename files in each folder? Thank you
