reset tone sliders to zero does not work

When importing my raw photos in LR classic (9.1), LR applies auto (tone) automatically. I used to be able to set all tone sliders to zero by double clicking 'tone', or by alt & reset tone. It still works in older photos; but not anymore. I think this started just a few days ago. The same goes for 'presence'

Importing photos with no develop settings does auto tone too. Reset, right bottom corner, does not reset tone, but it does reset white balance.

Strange, this. Do I make a mistake? Should I change something in Pref's? Is it a bug?

Hope someone knows, thanks for listening ....

I read a post about this (more or less) that suggested that the double click speed should be changed, but, as I said, everything works normal in older photos

Correct answer richardplondon

Just to explain this in more detail, the "Reset" button might IMO be better named "Return to Default".

Default processing gets saved / altered in the first place (for ALL settings), by Alt+[Reset button at lower right corner]. This command copies all the current image's settings, and pastes them as your new Default processing for this type of image.

That option could I suppose be easily confused, in the heat of editing, with the Alt+[Reset 'text' link] shortcut presented within a given tool panel. The shortcut copies some Default settings (as currently set) onto the current image.

And the full Reset button (without modifier key) copies all Default settings onto the current image.

The way to compare potentially non-zero, user customised "Default" processing against the originally-installed, zeroed processing is with Ctrl+Shift+[Reset button]. This applies Adobe defaults to the current image: these have definitely not been user customised. You have got the option then, to make some different user customised defaults, either the same as or different from the Adobe ones, by editing the current image as desired and then pressing Alt+[Reset].

Otherwise there are ways to simply remove these user customised processing defaults whereupon LR falls back on the Adobe built-in ones.

1b Auto Tone during import

Did you perhaps set custom default develop settings?

1. Auto Tone being applied

During import are you applying any presets?

Thanks David, no, I don't, no develop presets. Nevertheless 'auto tone' and 'auto presence'. Made a preset 'zero tone & presence' for the moment. Hans
