Running two Lightroom Classic programs from computer and external SDD drive

This may sound a bit crazy
I have a large lightroom catalog on my internal hdd drive in my tower. I also have a med catalog on an external sdd. Can I download and install a second Lighroom Classic program to my SSD catalog with out interfering with my catalog on my computer. Eventually I will move the second large catalog to the external SDD and merge the two catalogues. Want to make sure the SDD catalog is working good first.

Why would you want to install the Lightroom Classic program on the SSD? Lightroom Classic can work with a catalog on an external drive just fine in its normal installation. If you want to test another catalog, then just use 'File - Open Catalog'.
