Same old SD-Card import problem

With the new Lightroom Classic I've got the same old problems with importing Data from sd-card. This problem exists for 20 months now. Adobe support just delivered their standard advices as usual – the complete range of unuseful advices I already tried – ending with the final advice to use cleaner tool  followed by a complete reinstallation, without any positive result, as expected. So I pay for 20 months now for a product that doesn't work. Maybe sb. here in can help me?

System: Imac 3,2 i5, 8 GB Ram, MacOS 10.12.6

SD-Card: SanDisk Extreme 32 GB

Camera: Nikon D800 (which means big Data for RAW Files, 40 – 50 MB)

Problem:

- Klick on 'Import' Button

- choosing SD-card

- de-select all files by checkbox

- navigating through Privews

--->

after the 8th or 9th image i select the system gets appreciable slower, selecting on or 2 images more the whole Mac freezes. That case is the only situation at all my Mac freezed ever, no other problems at all.

Does anybody have an experience with this behavior?

Tanks and kind regards. Michael.

    Hi michaelk,

We really apologise for all the trouble caused you. Have you ever tried changing the SD card and used the different one with Lightroom?

Users do get issues with the SD card while using it with Lightroom but it will get fixed if you format the card or change some settings on your machine.

You can try using another user account on your computer and check if that helps you fix this issue.

    Regards,

    Mohit

    Hi Mohit,

thank you so much for your effort to help me. I dealt with the subject once more and detected a quite important thing: I copied all Images of a little Shooting (about 100 pictures) to my Mac just via the Finder, without any speed problems.

THEN I started my import in LR choosing my images already lying on my mac, and – voilà – the same thing:

    - deslecting all files

    - selecting one by one

    - performance slows with every image

---> completey Mac freeze after selecting 10th image approximately

So it is not a SD problem at all. Do you have any ideas?

    Regards, Michael.

    Few things to test/questions:

What is the sort method at the bottom of the import screen set to? Does it help if that is changed?

Does it make a difference if the "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" checkbox is checked or not?

Are there any video files included at any time?

    Any renaming being applied/presets?
